The Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EEC-EG) was formed by a Ministerial Decree in October 2005 with the objective of growing the Egyptian engineering exports by improving the quality criteria and by investing in the domestic competitive advantages.
The primary aim of the Council will be implementing the government's export strategy for the Engineering sector in Egypt, through providing export related services for the exporting companies. The Council has strong organizational structure based on state of the art technologies that would ease the work processes and achieve sustainability.
One of the tools through which the Council will provide its services is the Web-Portal. IT will provide services like: submitting requests, applying for membership, storing and retrieving trade related information, sector information, member information and updates on the service providers as well as the committees. The Council will act as a link between its members and the Government agencies in the Engineering sector.
The EEC-EG has developed a clear strategy for its growth. The Council has to support its members to gain a competitive advantage to achieve export-led growth through supplying the members with what they need whether; information about the Engineering Sector in Egypt or abroad, advice and problem solving consultancy exporting opportunities ,match making exhibitions, conferences, training ,information and updating on all regulations related to exporting. The Council acts like a one stop shop for its members as it links them with all other export service providers.
Since its inception in 2005, the EEC-EG has succeeded in its first year in increasing the exports of member engineering companies by 22%. This significant increase, in fact, amounted to $1.2 billion, which exceeded our target for 2006.
Having applied a clear-cut strategy since its beginning in 2005, the EEC-EG has succeeded in its first year in doubling the total exports to reach EGP8.4 billion in year 2006 compared to EGP4.2 billion in year 2005 and another 20% increase in year 2007 to reach EGP10.5 billion.
Our ultimate goal, however, remains raising Egyptian engineering exports to $3 billion and increasing labor force in the engineering sector to 2 million by 2009. Hence, by subscribing to our top-quality services, we commit ourselves to helping you in achieving your business targets
